I’ve had a vintage mxr distortion + since I started playing guitar in the mid 70’s (it was used when I bought it way back then) Anyway it went on the fritz and I was looking for a replacement for months – tried everything Guitar Center had and stopped at random music stores across the country, and couldn’t find what I was looking for. I decided to try the Power Screamer based on reviews, your artist list and Bill Stewart’s advice. I couldn’t be happier, the tone, bite, warmth and range of growl – Unbelievable sound – it can bring tears to a grown mans eyes. You should know you have a great rep in Bill Stewart. I’ll be trying other HBE pedals…

HBE's Flagship Pedal. Killer Overdrive!! This pedal is tonally wide ranging and transparent. The Power Screamer oozes vintage tube-like overdrive. Based on the JRC4558D/IC. Features a "Boost" switch for solos.
*The "Fat Boost" mod adds gain and low end to the Power Screamer's Boost Switch. Switched on or off via a small toggle switch added to the (output) side of the pedal.
*Burr Brown™ I.C. Available for the Power Screamer, Big D and Hematoma. Replace the stock I.C. with the famous Burr Brown I.C. Burr Brown (Op Amps) I.C.'s are known for their smooth, warm, round tone. If you are looking for a cleaner, more audiophile-like sound, then this is for you. Also available for pre-existing pedals for only $16.00. If ordering for a pre-existing pedal, please specify which model as the I.C.'s are different for each.
"Tone Stax"-Stacked IC's
Available for the Power Screamer, Big D and Hematoma. Replace the stock I.C. with a Tone Stax. The Tone Stax are two IC's piggy backed on top of each other. Adds warmth and tube like response. Available in dual JRC4558 or dual Burr Brown. Please specify model of pedal if ordering Burr Brown Tone Stax. Cost: $35.00 Burr Brown, $20.00 JRC4558.
